Preparing for your first family law consultation

You do not need to have everything organised before asking for help. A short outline of your situation and a few questions can help you make the most of your first consultation.

1. Write down what you want help with

Note the main issues you would like to discuss, such as separation, parenting arrangements or property. Write down the questions that matter most to you and any upcoming dates, appointments or court events.

2. Ask which documents to bring

Tell our team if you have existing court orders, correspondence or other relevant documents. We can explain what to bring and how to provide it. Please use the enquiry form for brief initial details rather than detailed confidential material.

3. Choose the right first step

The free 20-minute discovery call is with a paralegal and covers your initial enquiry and procedural questions. It does not provide legal advice.

The initial lawyer consultation is $385 including GST and lasts up to 90 minutes. It is an opportunity to discuss your circumstances and legal options with a lawyer.

4. Confirm your appointment

We respond to enquiries within one business day. Our team will confirm availability and a suitable appointment time. You can also call (07) 3171 2229.
